When organizations of the Play Fair 2008 published the report "No medal on labor rights," the BOCOG said, admitting excessive overtime in three of the Olympic product suppliers and employment of workers under age and contractual violations in the room (Lekit Stationary).
Our report not only test obligation to do excessive overtime, it also provides detailed evidence that has paid workers less than they should (for overtime and ordinary) of the regulations on labor safety equipment are being ignored, questionable hiring, lack of maternity leave and structural absence of secure channels for workers to report their complaints.
Unfortunately, the BOCOG statement ignores these issues, although several major international customers have recognized that these problems are widespread in the mills.
Play Fair 2008 has also expressed disappointment that the BOCOG, following allegations of research, not mentioned or not this indemnity compensation for workers who are paid less than they should. Likewise, it is surprising that to date IOC has not commented on the report, nor has taken any practical steps to address these situations.
