MEETS WITH SPANISH OLYMPIC COMMITTEE

After several months of waiting, yesterday - April 2 - took place the meeting of the English Olympic Committee (COE) with representatives of organizations English social organizers of the international Play Fair 2008 Campaign.

In this first contact, Play Fair 2008 has raised the Olympic Committee to take into account the following demands:
- express a clear commitment COE labor exploitation in the textile and sports in the manufacture of articles Olympic regardless of the country where these items are produced.
- Demand ethical safeguards and respect for the basic conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO) to companies that use the image of the English Olympic Team.
- express public commitment to promote measures to fight against exploitation in the sporting goods industry in the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

At the meeting, the representatives of the COE is committed to:
- Move the concerns of the Play Fair Campaign COE Executive Committee to be held on April 29.
- To express this concern about respect for labor and social rights to the Assembly of National Olympic Committees on 6 April.
- Inclusion in the EOC Code of Ethics Fundamental Rights proclaimed by the ILO.
- Continue an active line of work with the organizations responsible for the Play Fair campaign.

Organizations Play Fair 2008 drivers expressed their satisfaction with this first contact hoping that the relationship with the COE is now as smooth as possible. The Olympic movement can not be excluded from the growing social demands of justice and respect for human rights.
